Passaic Valley Water Commission Lifts Boil Water Advisory

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Passaic County, N.J. – June 21, 2024) – Passaic Valley Water Commission (PVWC) is pleased to announce that the boil water advisory issued on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, has been lifted.

Following extensive water quality testing and in close collaboration with the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP), as well as local health officials, it has been confirmed that customers in South Paterson and parts of Clifton affected by the boil water advisory can resume their normal water use.

The following measures are strongly encouraged for affected customers:

  • Customers in the impacted areas are advised to run all cold faucets in their homes for about three minutes.
  • Empty and clean your automatic ice makers and water chillers.
  • Drain and refill your hot water heater if the temperature is set below 113 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Service connections with a water softener/cartridge filter should be run through a regeneration cycle or other procedures recommended by the manufacturer.

We apologize for any inconvenience this precautionary advisory may have caused, but it was necessary for PVWC to continue protecting public health and safety, our top priority. Thank you to all PVWC employees, as well as Paterson and Clifton Offices of Emergency Management, for working together to ensure this situation was addressed safely and diligently.
